Handmade Alaska bowl by Wilcoxson Brooklyn Ceramics. A useful bowl to use for serving food or as a decorative piece in your home for your keys, trinkets, jewellery.
Specialising in fine ceramics, each porcelain piece is handmade combining traditional Mingei style Japanese Art and Industrial Design to make a “New Modern” style of functional porcelain. Mingei is the handcrafted art of ordinary people and coined by Yanagi Soetsu, who saw beauty in the ordinary and utilitarian objects made by unknown craftsmen.
For Yanagi, everyday objects made by common folk are beyond beauty and ugliness. Mingei crafts are typically producted by hand in quantities, inexpensive, used by the masses, functional in daily life and representative of the region where the objects are produced.
The porcelain and glazes are made from scratch in Kevin's Brooklyn based studio. The porcelain is fired in the kiln to 2250 degrees Fahrenheit, resulting in translucent, food safe, oven safe and dishwasher safe porcelain tableware.

Glaze appearance will vary - each piece is completely handmade and unique and therefore no two pieces are the same. Slight variations of markings, colouring and size will occur due to the firing process.
